Elementary and Middle Schools in the United States and Canada are eligible to apply. Proposals must be submitted by principals who are currently members of NAESP and intend on renewing membership for the 2017– 2018 school year. The schools must be located in either United States or Canada. Schools that received this grant in 2016 will not be eligible to apply for a 2017–2018 grant. Instead, those school leaders tare encouraged o become judges and help score new proposals. Schools that won this grant between 2010 and 2015 may apply in 2017.

Eligibility

Nominees must be classroom teachers whose responsibilities include teaching science. Nominees must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience (not including the current school year) as a teacher of science, and must teach in a private or public school in the United States, U.S. Territories, Department of Defense schools, or in Canada.

o be eligible, applicants must be a current NCTM member (on or before October 14, 2016); be a classroom (elementary school) teacher with at least three years of experience; and have mathematics as a regular teaching responsibility. In addition, applicants must have the support of a school principal in becoming a mathematics teacher-leader within his or her school or district.

Eligibility

The applicant must be a current (on or before October 13, 2017) Full Individual or E-Member of NCTM or teach at a school with a current (on or before October 13, 2017) NCTM Pre-K-8 school membership and currently teach mathematics in grades 6-8 at least 50 percent of the school day. Activities are to be completed between June 1, 2018, and May 31, 2019. Past recipients of this grant are ineligible to reapply. No person(s) may receive more than one award administered by the Mathematics Education Trust in the same academic year.

An LEA in which 20 percent or more of the students served by the LEA are from families with an income below the Federal poverty line, and which may be a charter school that is considered an LEA under State law and regulations, and that works in partnership with one or more of the following: (a) A Regional Service Agency; (b) An SEA (c) An institution of higher education; or (d) A museum or cultural institution, or another private agency, institution, or organization.
