Eligibility: Unless invited by the Foundation Board to submit a full grant proposal, all applicants must first submit a letter of inquiry. Not to exceed two pages in length, the letter should: Briefly describe the program and how it advances the Tellabs Foundation's mission Request a specific grant amount, detail the use of funds and estimate total program cost Explain program outcomes and potential long-term impact of the program Identify the people and communities (where Tellabs employees live and work) that will benefit from this program Name any collaborative partners and/or Tellabs employees involved with the program Describe any recognition associated with grants to the program Include a contact person with phone number, mailing and email addresses Attach the requesting organization's 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter.
Purpose: Generally, The Foundation Prefers To Fund Specific Programs Rather Than General Operating Requests. Grant Awards Typically Exceed $10,000. The Three Priority Funding Areas Include: Education — Support Local And National Education Initiatives, With A Focus On Engineering, Science, Mathematics And Technology. Health — Improve Health Through Research, Education And Treatment, Primarily Working With Hospitals And Health Care Facilities. Environment — Encourage Understanding And Protection Of The Environment, With A Focus On Environmental Education, Land And Water Protection And Waste Reduction.

Letters of inquiry and proposals will not be accepted via fax or email. Please mail all requests to: Tellabs Foundation, 1415 W. Diehl Road, Mail Stop 10, Naperville, IL 60563. Board meetings usually occur in January, April, July and October. At each meeting, the board will consider all letters of inquiry received by the first day of that month. If the board invites a full proposal for consideration, submit the proposal by the first day of the month of the next board meeting. Dates may be subject to change.
