AASA National Superintendent of the Year

Type: Foundations
Source: School Superintendents Association
Program: AASA National Superintendent of the Year

  • To be eligible for National Superintendent of the Year, an\r\napplicant must first be selected as a State Superintendent of the\r\nYear by the state association of school administrators.
  • A national blue-ribbon panel of judges selects four finalists\r\nfor AASA National Superintendent of the Year from among the\r\neligible State Superintendents of the Year. The judging panel is\r\ncomposed of distinguished leaders in education. The panel’s\r\ndecision will be based on the applications submitted online.
  • The blue-ribbon panel interviews the four national finalists in\r\nWashington, D.C., to select the AASA National Superintendent of the\r\nYear.

Now in its 28th year, the AASA National Superintendent of the\r\nYear Program pays tribute to the talent and vision of the men and\r\nwomen who lead our nation\'s public schools. This program is\r\nsponsored by Aramark, VALIC and AASA.

The AASA National Superintendent of the Year Program is a\r\nclear indicator that superintendents across the nation are making a\r\npositive impact on public education and the lives of their students\r\nand families. I consider it an honor and a privilege to lead the\r\nnation’s fourth largest school system, Miami-Dade County\r\nPublic Schools, and I am thrilled to bring this recognition to our\r\ncommunity. This honor reflects the passion, sacrifice, and\r\ndetermination of every member of our world-class education\r\nfamily.
