TECHNOLOGY GRANTS FOR RURAL SCHOOLS

Type: Foundations
Source: Foundation For Rural Education And Development (FRED)
Program: TECHNOLOGY GRANTS FOR RURAL SCHOOLS
Eligibility: FRED programs are designated for rural communities, residents and organizations. Starting in the fall of 2013, eligibility for FRED programs is determined by the “Donor Circle” list. Applicants must have a
letter of nomination from a Donor Circle company for that program year and meet the basic requirements outlined in the individual program brochure. Only those applications that meet these two requirements will be considered for FRED funding. If you are interested in applying for a FRED program, contact one of the companies listed on the “Donor Circle” list found at http://www.fred.org/donors.html. The number of applications each company may nominate is limited. Application selection is determined by
the Donor Circle company
Purpose: As The Role Of Technology In Classrooms Grows, It Becomes A Powerful Tool To Improve Both Teaching And Learning. Many Rural Schools Are Incorporating New, Innovative Technology In An Effort To Help Motivate And Inspire Their Students. Their Goals Include Bringing Modern Computers To Every Classroom, Connecting Every Classroom To The Internet And Making Sure That Effective And Engaging Software And Online Resources Will Be An Integral Part Of Every School Curriculum. Many Public Schools In Rural Areas Lack The Resources To Obtain New Technologies And Cannot Meet These Goals. The Foundation For Rural Education And Development (FRED) Created The Technology Grants For Rural Schools Program To Help Meet The Growing Need For Innovative Technology In The Classroom.
