Eligibility: An eligible candidate is: At least 60 years old by the application deadline (February 7, 2014). Started the work for which he or she is nominated at the age of 50 or later. Currently addressing a major social problem in the second half of life (in what is often called an encore career). A legal U.S. resident or a U.S. citizen living abroad (residents of U.S. territories are also eligible). Not an elected official. Not involved in a project that is exclusively religious or sectarian. People working in faith-based settings that have a broader social mission are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Purpose: The Purpose Prize, Now In Its Ninth Year, Is The Nation's Only Large-scale Investment In People Over 60 Who Are Combining Their Passion And Experience For Social Good. The Prize Awards $100,000 To At Least One Individual In His Or Her Encore Career Creating New Ways To Solve Tough Social Problems.
