|Eligibility:||United States requestors must be a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code, and “not a private foundation,” within the meaning of Code Sections 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2). In addition, grant recipients must certify that they are not a supporting organization within the meaning of Code Section 509(a)(3).
We support quasi-governmental organizations such as public schools, public libraries, state universities and similar
entities through 501(c)(3) organizations that have been set up to provide financial support for the quasi-governmental
organization. Examples include “friends” groups, school district foundations, university foundations, or similar entities
whose role is to raise funds on behalf of the civic entity.
Canadian requestors must be a registered Canadian charity
The Mission Of The Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation Is To Make Life More Bearable For Children, Families And Pets In Need Of The Kindness Of Others.
We Want To Provide Direct Support For Children In Literacy And Education Programs Such As Summer Reading Programs, Early Childhood Education Programs And Literacy Programs For Children With Special Needs.
These Grants Are Made Possible Through The Sale Of Paperback Pup -- A Special Furry Friend Available In All Build A Bear Workshop Stores. With The Sale Of Each Paperback Pup, 50 Cents Is Donated To First Book And 50 Cents Is Donated Through The Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation To Other Literacy Programs Throughout The United States And Canada.
