Type: Foundations
Source: Global Nomads Group
Program: Global Nomads Groupís 2014-2015 Programs
Eligibility:
Purpose:

Global Nomads Group (GNG) 2014-205 programs combine technology and standards-based curricula to connect middle school and high school students and educators from two or more countries through a project-based curriculum, social networks, interactive videoconferencing and/or webcasts to build cultural awareness and global citizenship. Participation is free but applications are competitive. Criteria include commitment to implementing the program from the class and school; and a clear vision for integrating the GNG program within existing curricular offerings.

Interactive programs are offered in two thematic tracks: Civic Engagement and STEM. Each track includes multiple programs with three options in length (year-long, semester-long and short-term), with connections in different geographic regions of the world.

∑Civic Engagement programs cover topics including cultural exchange, media literacy, human rights and social change.

∑STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs cover topics including global climate change, sustainable energy and environmental action.

GNG programs are aligned with the following US national educational skills and standards: 21st Century Skills; Common Core Standards for English, Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, and Science; McRel’s National Standards.
