Type: Federal
Source: U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
Program: Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Technical Assistance (TA) Grant

Purpose:
Grants awarded with WANTO funds must focus on providing TA to improve
RAPs placement and retention of women (including women of color and
women with disabilities) into nontraditional occupations (NTOs). In addition
grantees should collaborate with local workforce investment boards and other
entities that will provide supportive services needed to assist women to
successfully enter and complete RAPs. Strategies commonly used by former
WANTO grantees include pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship preparation, or
other bridge type programs that aim to prepare potential participants for the
apprenticeship programs to meet the entry requirements for Registered
