Eligibility:
KSTF Teaching Fellows are chosen from among individuals who have earned or are in the process of earning a degree in a discipline related to STEM. Fellowships are intended for individuals who are committed to teaching STEM related subjects to high school students. KSTF is seeking individuals who have outstanding and current content knowledge; thus applicants should have a recent content degree (typically within the last 5–10 years). We are also seeking candidates who have the capacity and determination to commit to teaching as their primary career; the fellowship is not intended for those who have previously established a career (typically more than 5-10 years) in another field. The KSTF Teaching Fellowship is intended to support beginning high school STEM teachers, that is, individuals who have recently earned a secondary teaching credential or will earn their credential no later than September 1, 2014. Individuals who have earned a secondary teaching credential prior to January 1, 2013 are not eligible to apply. Please review the eligibility page on our website for more information.

Purpose:
KSTF Provides Beginning High School STEM Teachers With Five-year Fellowships Designed To Help Them Become Master Teacher And Leaders. These “backbone” Teachers Reach Thousands Of Students Each Year, Take On Leadership Roles Improving Math And Science Education From The Classroom And Strengthen The Teaching Profession. The Work Of KSTF Is Aimed At Creating A Stable, Sustainable Corps Of Outstanding Teachers, Who Have The Capacity And Inclination To Drive Positive Change In The United States’ Educational System.

Teaching fellows receive an annual stipend and are eligible for a number of grants throughout the year. Professional development grants valued at up to $4000 per year are available to cover the cost of relevant activities, including workshops, mentoring, practitioner inquiry and fellow observations. Fellows are also eligible to receive up to $1200 per year for teaching materials. Last, fellows can apply for leadership grants to pursue efforts that will have a positive impact on STEM education beyond their own classroom.
