Schools that are eligible must serve grades K-12 and must participate in the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. 
Depending on the grant you are applying for, your school must have a free/reduced priced meal eligibility equal to or greater than
:• School Breakfast Program Creation or Expansion Grants: 50%
• Universal School Breakfast Pilot Grants: 60%
• Physical Activity Grants: All schools are eligible to apply. Schools with greater than 50% of students eligible for free/reduced priced meals may receive priority

Which states are eligible to apply for the 2014-2015 School Grants for Healthy Kids?
• School Breakfast Program Creation or Expansion Grants
All states can apply for grant funds for school breakfast programs for expansion or pilot of alternative breakfast models (i.e., Breakfast in the Classroom; Grab and Go, Breakfast after 1st Period; or other alternative location or method of serving breakfast) and/or Universal Breakfast.

• Universal School Breakfast Grant: 
Select states (CA, CO, CT, DC/MD/VA, FL, GA, IL, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, WA) can apply for grant funds for piloting or expanding Universal Breakfast to 2 or 3 schools within a district.

• Physical Activity Grants
Select states (AL, DC/MD, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MD, NY, OH, WV) can apply for grant funds to support physical activity in schools.


Through partners CSX Transportation, Kellogg Company, Kellogg’s Company Fund, and the Walmart Foundation, Action for Healthy Kids is pleased to release its School Grants for Healthy Kids opportunities for the 2014-2015 school year.  Around 1,000 schools will be awarded funds ranging from $500 to $5,000 to support school breakfast and physical activity programs. Funded schools will also receive expertise and people power to help implement a successful project that leads to sustainable change.    

Award amounts will be based on building enrollment, project type, potential impact, and a school’s ability to mobilize parents and students around school wellness initiatives. Grants are available in select states .
