About Us
Hello. My name is Joe Mizereck. I started this website in 1996 to help America's teachers and schools. As a former high school social studies teacher, I know the challenges you face.
Our nation is in a financial mess. As a result teachers, principals, schools, PTO groups and school districts across America are struggling to find ways to fill the gaps created by state, federal and local budget cuts. Our teachers and schools need help in finding and securing the resources they need to educate our kids. Our mission at www.GrantsAlert.com is to help you find and capture those resources to do your work and do it well. And I know I don’t have to explain why this work must be done and done well.
School grants and teacher grants are our specialty. Our work involves finding and sharing information on education funding opportunities that will help our teachers and schools. We provide teachers, administrators, counselors and related organizations with free access to up-to-date announcements of corporate, foundation, state and federal education funding opportunities and only education. That’s what makes us unique.
If you have been a follower of this site, you know our old site had a directory of grant writers that you could call upon to help you in preparing proposals. I plan to bring that directory back, but thought it would be best to get the Alerts up first. In addition, in the coming weeks, I will be adding some new sections…sections I think you will find both useful, professionally and personally.
Most of my life's work has been in the area of improving education and helping our children become more successful students, people and citizens. These are among my passions and reasons why you will find that this website is focused on helping those involved in fundraising for K-12 education.
My background as a high school teacher, President of the Southern Scholarship Foundation, Director of Grants Development for the Florida Department of Education, Executive Director of the Foundation for Florida's Community College System and current work has made me keenly aware of the tremendous challenges that exist in education and the extraordinary need for dollars to meet those challenges. It is my hope that this website will continue to play a vital role in helping you and others involved in educating our youth find the resources needed to meet those challenges.
